It is common to be diagnosed with several neurodivergent conditions simultaneously - ADHD and Autism commonly co-exist. The combination is often summarised as AuADHD.
We screen for both conditions on entry to the service. We are pleased to offer a combined assessment for both for adults, which is done all in the same process, although may be spread over several appointments.
There are various ways of assessing both conditions - there is a formal way and a pragmatic way of conducting the autism component of the assessment.
The formal approach is to conduct an observation using the ADOS tool - this is advised if the assessment will be required to liaise with external bodies such as government departments or universities.
If the autism aspect of the diagnosis is more for self awareness and self discovery there is an option to have a pragmatic assessment where the observational component is more "light touch", which is briefer and therefore can be offered at reduced cost.
A QB Check is always useful in an AuADHD assessment so is included in the combined cost.
